Wando-gun hosts the Myeongnyang Battle Festival around Uldolmok in order to honor the spirit of the Jeolla-do people and the General Chungmugong Yi Sun-shin who saved the country as well as to commemorate the victory in the Battle of Myeongnyang.

The festival presents a variety of programs for families to participate in as well as the events including the reproduction of sea battle, bringing the battle from history to life, Ganggangsullae, shaman rituals to clean the dead’s soul, shaman rituals to appease the dead’s soul, a Manga march, and a victory parade.
