The Damyang Bamboo Festival is secured as an eco-friendly green festival on the basis of  programs combining the efficiency and value of bamboo, the blessed natural resource of Damyang, with the local culture. The Damyang Bamboo Festival is a participatory festival in which all residents participate to pass down and develop the traditional bamboo culture and art. 

The Damyang Bamboo Festival is held around the clean Gwanbangcheon River, the upper stream of the Yeongsangang River. Jungnogwon Bamboo Garden, the bamboo theme forest, is the main stage, with the bamboo and the spirit of upright Confucian scholars are the main themes. The festival aims to remind people of the meaning of the day planting bamboos (day of bamboo planting) using the slogan ‘Green Bamboo Forest, Clear Mind’. 

As an experience-oriented festival for all tourists including families, sweethearts, and families to enjoy and experience together, the Damyang Bamboo Festival will advance to become a global festival, enhancing the basis as a representative festival of Korea more than ever. 

Started in 1999, the festival provides unique and differentiated programs to fit to the local featuresaround the Jungnogwon Bamboo Garden and Gwanbangjerim Forest every May.
