Gwangyang Plum Festival

March every year

Every March, the Seomjingang riverside in Daam-myeon, Gwangyang-si becomes brilliant with white plum blossoms heralding the spring, first in the southern region, as about 1 million plum trees burst into bloom, covering an area of about 1,000,000m2 on the mountains, fields, and ridges.


Gwangyang hosts the ‘Gwangyang Plum Festival’ for about 9 days from mid-March to end of March every year around Maehwa Village, along the Seomjingang River, as the area is filled with white blossoms and the scent of plums, the first encounter with spring flowers.
The Gwangyang Plum Festival is the representative festival of Gwangyang, with over 1 million tourists taking part every year. A variety of experience events are held including an Echo Campsite for one night and two days which is enhanced by the unique tastes and elegance of Gwangyang.
